My wife found that cold drinks in front of the air conditioning unit was about all that worked when pregnant during a Spanish summer.

While my wife was pregnant, we did not have air conditioning. The first few months were not bad during the summer, but once she started to show, it got pretty bad. When it started to get warm inside I always grabbed an ice pack from the freezer and she used that to cool down a little bit.

My summer pregnancy was very difficult, but I continued to work well into my third trimester. This involved a lot of walking in the summer heat in San Diego. Getting in and out of the car became a struggle, but the rest in the air conditioning was well worth it. Other than that, loose clothes and lots of rests in the shade are a must!

My wife has been in pregnancy for this summer; we live in Malaga where the hot is extreme and there is almost no winter. She says the best thing to do is to eat lot of fruits every day, to be in the pool most of the time or going to the beach; and of course air conditioning at home!!. In Malaga, Spain temperatures can be up to 45º in August, even dangerous if you are not carefull.

I agree, ice packs are the most efficient solution. It will always work fast.
